Who we are

We are a continuation of J.F. Cavanaugh Co. Inc. that was founded in 1965 by Joseph F. Cavanaugh. Cavanaugh’s long history in providing quality mechanical services in the water and waste water industry is our honor to continue. December of 2005 Gerald L. Schmitt took over the company. He was hired in 1977 started from ground up and learning the operation under the original founder. Mr. Schmitt’s core values are that of the original founder, which is a strong belief in providing high quality services. In January of 2022 Jessica M. George took over the company as second generation. Hired in 2006 learned the company under the guidance of Mr. Schmitt. Mrs. George keeps the same core values of the company of providing quality services which has not changed in over forty years. The officers and employees of the J. F. Cavanaugh have been involved with many Great Lakes Water Authority and previously Detroit Water and Sewage Department projects since the 1970’s. Our primary focus remains servicing communities by building and rehabilitating water treatment plants and water resource recovery facilities in the state of Michigan.
